Update on Crisis in Sudan/South Sudan
Dear Angie, I have just arrived in Juba, South Sudan to the news that this week the largest influx of refugees so far has arrived at the Yida camp where Samaritan’s Purse is working. Over 600 people arrived in the camp on Wednesday alone, swelling the numbers to over 23,000. In total, well over 100,000 refugees are now living in camps in the north part of South Sudan. The situation here is serious. The camps are becoming crowded, with long queues forming for basics like food and water. Families are arriving malnourished, barely able to walk. Many set off from the Nuba Mountains but never make it to the camp. The UK media is finally taking notice, with BBC News reporting directly from Yida just last night. Visit our website to find out the latest on the crisis, including details of the BBC News report. Over the next few days I will be travelling to these camps and reporting back on what I find. You can watch my up-to-date video reports by visiting the blog page on our website. Please continue to pray for these refugees and for those left behind in Sudan, who continue to face daily bombings and the very-real possibility of starvation. Thank you for standing with us and with them in solidarity and prayer. In Christ, P.S. You can be part of our response by texting a donation now - simply send the message DART01 £10 to give £10 to our Emergency Relief Fund - we receive 100% of your donation or make a donation online. |

Peter Gladwin
"Out of the Ashes" - Peter Gladwin was barely one when a domestic fire left him partly disabled and horribly scarred. He was raised on a rough council estate in Halifax. Peter was always in trouble with the police, in and out of care homes, spending his time on the streets. Then he was stabbed and effectively lost the use of his right arm. Every relationship failed. Peter took refuge in gambling, drinking and drugs until an encounter that would change his life forever.....

A group we have most recently financially supported
The Teso Relief Campaign started in 1986. Since 1989 the trust has supported a wide range of projects carried through by its partners, notably the Church of Uganda and the Pentecostal Assemblies of God. These have included:
- Emergency relief: food aid, mosquito nets, and sanitation
- Provision of basic necessities for the internally displaced persons living in camps
- Resettlement of internally displaced persons through providing seeds and tools
- Micro business loan schemes
- Improvement of farming through training, tools and restocking
